Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014: Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

W is for White - Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (Card Creation by Sheena Joy Nicholas - Joy's Studio Creations)

This is my entry for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog, this week's theme is "W is for White". White in the summer is warm and warmth to me evokes natural tones. I thought Kraft card stock was the perfect match for the W is for White theme.

I started with Recollections Kraft card stock and used a ColorBox Frost White ink pad on a Heidi Swapp Chevron Stencil, rubbing it with a dauber after to soften the look while the ink was still damp. I used a Momenta Chevron Embossing Folder on a piece of white card stock. This made the card front: half of it stenciled Kraft and the other half, pressure embossed white card stock, both chevron. I tied DCWV Vintage Collector Bakers Twine (the natural jute) to wrap in the middle, with a bow. I made a tag from Recollections Vellum onto which I stamped "Thank You" (Stampendous Clear Stamps - Agapanthus Thanks) with a ColorBox Espresso Pigment ink pad. Behind the main panel is a patterned paper from Momenta 6X6 Perched paper pad.I embellished the card with Forever In Time Kraft Flowers and Recollections Enamel Dots.

This was a fun challenge - give it a try!

  2. This card is so stunning! I loved reading about your thought process and agree that Kraft paper was the perfect material to combine with white! The results are so sophisticated and fresh. I also really like how you split the card in half with two different backgrounds. I would've never thought to do that, but I adore the look you created. I also love the addition of the twine down the center and the different techniques you used to achieve the chevrons. The flowers and enamel dots give it such an added bit of oomph and I love how you did the tag, too. This is a very unique, original, lovely card that's definitely inspired me! Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!
