Halloween 2017 Cards

Hello & Welcome!
I hope that you all had a wonderful Halloween - it's one of my favourite days of the year!

Along with family crafts & activities I also had a chance to make 3 Halloween cards:

The last one was actually made after Halloween as I just had to make one more before packing away my Halloween box and of course, it had to be a shaker card!

All 3 cards were made with mostly Simon Says Stamp (SSS) products:
- SSS Not So Spooky Stamp Set (discontinued)
- Doodlebug Ghouls & Goodies 6x6 paper pad

Here's a Halloween collage that I did to show some highlights of our Halloween:

Cards From The Heart For Family - October 2017

Hello & Welcome To My Blog!

I recently made a couple of cards for my Dad and for my sister Laurie. My Dad has gone through a huge change in his life and it's been an extremely challenging time for him. My sister, Laurie, has been with him through this ordeal since day 1. With this in mind, I wanted to show them some love with cards that came from the heart.

I made the card for Dad using the Altenew Simple Flowers stamp set & matching dies along with a Simon Says Stamp (SSS) Painted Hugs Die. These 2 companies are my absolute faves so using the 2 together is so fitting for me. I used various Altenew & SSS dye ink pads plus a Momenta teardrop ink pad too. I naturally had to embellish with Nuvo Crystal Drops. The card base is from MFT (Steel Grey Heavy Weight).

This is the card that I made for Dad:

For my sister Laurie, I used the gorgeous & unique Fractile Leaves stamp set from SSS along with the Wavy Scallop Stitches Dies, also from Simon Says Stamp. I used the SSS Script Thanks die cutting it 4 times, gluing them together then white heat embossing them (love the height!). I used Prismacolor and Artist Loft (Michael's) watercolor pencils with a waterbrush to add color. Again, I embellished with Nuvo Crystal Drops (can't even resist lol!). The card base is 110 lb. Neenah Desert Storm. I am entering this card into the SSS Flickr Challenge #82 "Fall Is In The Air". I love these SSS Flickr challenges, so fun plus inspiring too!

This is the card for Laurie
(the card for the SSS Flickr Challenge):

I cannot say that these cards change the situation for them but I hope that they add a bit of light into their days when they look upon them. These two amazing people are so incredibly strong, with inner Spirit that shines to inspire others.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope that you return
and visit my Flickr page if you have the chance!

SSS Flickr Challenge #78 Cards

Good Day Everybody!
I am so very happy to be back on my blog! It's been quite a while since I posted...much has happened in my life and in my family's lives. Such as me finding out that I have Type 1 Diabetes and my Dad being lost in the snow in late February (he's still hospitalized from complications but getting stronger). Fortunately, some things remain the same, such as my love for card making.

I have been back to entering the Simon Says Stamp (SSS) Flickr Challenges which is something that I love to do, it makes me very happy!

This challenge (SSS Flickr Challenge #78) has the theme of Dots and/or Stripes. I recently celebrated my birthday and received these goodies from my husband:

So of course I used some of these new products and various other SSS products that I have.

These are the cards that I made:

I used the SSS Dancing Fruits stamp set, Large Dots Stencil, Stitched Rectangle Dies & Stitched Circle Dies for this card along with the discontinued SSS You Are So Sweet stamp set. I also embellished with Nuvo Crystal Drops and some Lawn Fawn Pink Lemonade Twine. I used Zig markers to color in the fruits and dabbed on Spiced Marmalade distress ink with the stencil on the die cut SSS vellum.

The next card I used the SSS Summer Flowers Stamp set & the SSS Script Thanks Die:

I painted on pink stripes with the Picked Raspberry Distrress Oxide ink pad; I stamped the floral images on SSS 40 lb. vellum and colored them with Copics & Sharpies (underside), I then fussy cut them out. I stacked 4 layers of the SSS Script Thanks Die and then silver embossed it with Ranger Fine Detail Silver embossing powder. I added Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins to top off the card. The card base is a SSS A2 Top Fold Scored Card. Again, I embellished with Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins.

The next 2 card used the same technique but I went back to the SSS Dancing Fruits stamp set:

This time, I used the Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink Pad to make the stripes. Dots are Nuvo Crustal Drops and instead of silver, I used Ranger Fine Detail Gold embossing powder.

I wholeheartedly thank you for stopping by, leave a comment to tell me which is your fave.

Birch Tree Challenge Cards

Happy Monday Everyone!
I am happy to say that I am still making Christmas cards...I even think of new ideas before sleep lol!

I made this card with the Birch Column Die from Simon Says Stamp (SSS):

This is inspired by the colors of the latest Color Throwdown Challenge (CTD423) :

I am entering this card into the CTD423, the SSS Flickr Challenge #60 and the current SSS Work It Wednesday Challenge. The Color Throwdown colors really brought a fun and playful element to this card. I used Gansai Tambi watercolors to add the color (#34, #36 & #51) and also sequins & beads from Pretty Pink Posh and Kennedy Grace Creations. The sentiment is from the Ornaments Stamp & Cut set (Hero Arts).

I then made another card with this gorgeous SSS Birch Column Die:

I absolutely love this card: the silver glitter paper combined with red accents is so striking! The background paper is from BoBunny and the frame is cut from the Fancy Frames Dies (Craftin Desert Divas). The sentiment is stamped with the SSS Schoolhouse Red ink pad. It is from the SSS Presents & Ornaments stamp set.

I think I may make Christmas cards even after the 25th - I'm running out of time and I still have so many ideas lol!

The warmest holiday wishes to all of you!
Thanks for coming by!

Blessed Christmas Shaker Card

Hello Everyone!
I have been in the swing of getting ready for Christmas and a big part of that for me means Christmas card making.

On that note, I couldn't resist making this shaker card:

When I saw the Magical Christmas stamp set from Simon Says Stamp, I knew that I had to get it! I'm First Nations (Maliseet Tribe) so I just fell in love with the "Native feel" of this gorgeous set!

This is the video showing how I made the card:
(or watch on YouTube, click here <---- )

More photos of the card:

I am sending this card to a wonderful family that I love - giving is one of the best aspects of Christmas! I am also entering it into the latest Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #60 (Cut It Out For Diecember).

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope that all of you are enjoying getting ready for this joyous season, it's my absolute favorite time of the year!

Holiday Hugs!!

Taking Part in Color Throwdown 422

Hello Everyone!
I'm happy to be taking part in this week's Color Throwdown (#422). I have seen different card maker's projects for past Color Throwdown challenges but after seeing Amy Rysavy's blog post and video for this recent one (422), I just knew it was time to take part.

I made this card for the challenge:

These are the colors for this week's color throwdown:
Navy, Hot Pink, Turquoise & Orange

I love the colors that were chosen - such a fun combo! I looked at my supplies and choose to use: Momento Dew Drop ink pads in Tangelo & Danube Blue; Lawn Fawn's Mermaid ink pad & SSS Doll Pink ink pad. I also used Magenta Ranger Embossing Powder. Additional splashes of the throwdown colors were added with sequins: PPP Aquamarine & Tangerine (4mm) plus the 6 mm flat Orchid sequins. The super small navy sequins are from the Freedom Sequins (Craftin Desert Divas). I also used pink & white bakers twine from Hobby Lobby for a finishing touch. The card base is a SSS top folding A2 card base with a piece of SSS Doll Pink card stock on top. The scallop die is from the Fancy Frames dies (Craftin Desert Divas).

I took a pic on my desk right after I finished the
card to show some of the supplies that I used:

Here are more pics of the card so you can appreciate those gorgeous & bright colors:

I am so happy with the way it turned out! This challenge turned out to be such a fun experience - I know that I'll take part again! Go to the Color Throwdown Blog to see amazing inspiration and maybe you'll want to take part too!

A big thank you for visiting!
Happy Weekend!
xoxo

SSS Flickr Challenge #58 Cards

Hi Everyone!
Today I entered this card into the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #58 where the challenge was Take Some Time To Color: add color to your cards with any medium you prefer using SSS Products:
This is the SSS Presents & Ornaments stamp set that I used to make this card:
First I cut out a piece of Strathmore watercolor paper with the SSS Stitched Rectangle Dies. Then I heat embossed the ornaments from the stamp set on the smooth side of the watercolor paper with Ranger Platinum Gold Embossing Powder; I then smooshed the Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink Pad on an acrylic block & used a wet brush to add the background color:
After that, I cleaned my acrylic block & then smooshed on Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed. I used a wet brush to apply color to each ornament:
After this I used the EK Success Powder Tool so that the embossing I was about to do would not stick to other areas of the watercolor piece:
I then stamped the sentiment "Merry Christmas" with the Platinum Gold embossing powder (note that I use fun foam underneath my piece to get clearer stamping):
I used my heat tool to set the embossing. This is the piece after the sentiment is heat embossed:
These are the ink pads that I used, note that I glue a piece of paper with the actual ink pad color & name along the side of each ink pad:
Following this I again used the the SSS Stitched Rectangle dies to cut out a piece of vellum then adhered the main panel to this piece. These two were put on a turquoise cardstock piece:

I did enter another card for the challenge the other day:
I used the oh-so-gorgeous SSS Winter Flowers stamp set to make this card.

The SSS Flickr challenges are such a fun way to interact with other card makers. It is so very inspiring to see other card maker's creations. Check out the SSS Flickr Group for more info! To see the cards on my Flickr page, click here. <---

For all my American family & friends: Happy Thanksgiving - peace & blessings to all!!
